Ukraine hit by Russian strikes, Kyiv cathedral damaged, nine dead

Russian air and missile attacks across Ukraine killed nine civilians and injured many others. In Kyiv, the 11th‑century St. Mary’s Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was heavily damaged by the strikes. The attacks left more than 140,000 people without power in the capital and caused fires in residential buildings.

A separate Ukrainian drone raid hit the Russian city of Tula, killing three people, including a one‑year‑old child, and wounding several others. Polish fighter jets were placed on alert as the Russian offensive intensified, though no Polish airspace was violated.
