Ukraine implements new mobilization and defense procurement updates

Ukraine has introduced significant changes to its military mobilization rules and concluded a major corruption investigation. Under new government decrees, companies within the fuel-energy and defense industrial complexes can now reserve up to 95 percent of their employees with military obligations. This change aims to protect essential production processes, though company leadership retains the authority to decide which specific personnel are exempt within these limits.

In a separate development, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Prosecutor's Office have concluded an investigation into the overpricing of military drone procurement. The scheme, which involved purchasing reconnaissance drones at 60 to 90 percent above market rates, resulted in a 254 million hryvnia loss to the state budget. Authorities have frozen over 4 million dollars in assets in foreign accounts and seized 17 million hryvnia domestically as part of the proceedings against five suspects.
