Romania activates air alert near Ukrainian border

The Romanian Ministry of National Defence (MApN) activated air alert measures on Saturday night after radar systems detected multiple aerial targets near the river border with Ukraine at 23:40.

In response to the detection, authorities prepared two Spanish F-18 fighter jets and a Romanian IAR 330 Puma SOCAT helicopter for potential takeoff. Residents in northern Tulcea County were notified via an RO-Alert message at 00:10.

MApN confirmed that no drones or aerial targets entered Romanian airspace during the incident. The air alert remained active until 00:42, when measures were lifted following the cessation of the situation.
