Ukraine intensifies drone strikes on Russian energy and aviation infrastructure

Ukraine has intensified drone strikes against Russian infrastructure to diminish Moscow's economic and military capabilities. Recent operations successfully targeted the Saratov refinery, a major crude processing facility in the Volga region with an annual capacity of approximately seven million tons, causing fires. Additionally, Ukrainian forces struck the Engels airfield, a critical base for Russian strategic aviation that houses Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers, and a fuel depot in the Kaluga region.

On the opposing side, Russian long-range drone attacks have caused significant damage across Ukrainian regions, including Odesa, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia. In Zaporizhzhia, a drone strike killed two people and caused fires and power outages.

Experts warn that Russian strikes on Ukrainian industrial hubs, such as the ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog steel plant, are creating a systemic crisis for Ukraine's military industry by disrupting the supply of raw materials for armored vehicles and artillery. Meanwhile, Russia continues to target Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea to intercept the transport of military supplies.
