Ukraine launches weapons sales mechanism for allies
Kiev announced the creation of a new mechanism that lets partner countries with intergovernmental agreements purchase Ukrainian weapons and military technology. The scheme is intended to gather resources to fund the Ukrainian armed forces, more than four years after the Russian invasion.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said the initiative aims to attract investment and ensure the priority needs of Ukraine’s forces are met. Prime Minister Yulia Svitrenko added that 20‑30% of the revenue from these exports will be placed in a special fund to develop Ukraine’s defence industry. The country, which has traditionally relied on Western allies for arms, has also developed its own capabilities, especially in drones and counter‑drone systems.
