Ukraine missiles hit Belgorod airport and gas‑pipeline hub, causing blackout and casualties
Ukrainian forces launched a massive missile strike on the Russian city of Belgorod and its surrounding district on the night of 6 July. The attack hit Belgorod International Airport and the Belgorod Linear Production Management of Main Gas Pipelines facility, igniting fires at both sites and triggering a regional blackout.
Belgorod governor Alexander Shuvaev said the attacks killed one person, injured three in the village of Belovskoe, and set a building ablaze in the village of Pushkarnoe. The strikes also disrupted electricity and water supplies in parts of the region. Russian officials reported that more than 430 drones flew over Moscow that night, most of which were intercepted.
The incident is part of Ukraine’s intensified campaign against Russian logistical and energy infrastructure, following a recent raid on an Omsk oil refinery located about 2,500 km from the Ukrainian border.
