Ukraine reports 240 clashes and major Russian equipment losses on June 8

The Ukrainian General Staff said that on 8 June 2026 a total of 240 combat engagements were recorded along the front. According to Kyiv, Russian forces lost 2,641 weapons systems and vehicles, including 85 artillery pieces, eight tanks and 1 330 soldiers killed in a single day. The worst fighting was reported around Huljajpole, with 38 of the incidents, followed by Pokrowsk and Lyman. The figures also note extensive air activity, with 86 Russian air strikes, 3 296 shells fired and 9 184 kamikaze drones deployed.

In a separate humanitarian‑type operation, soldiers of the 118th Mechanized Brigade used a heavy “Vampire” multi‑rotor drone to transport a cat and its five kittens from a frontline position to safety. The rescue, called “Mission Miau‑Miau,” was publicised on the brigade’s Facebook page and highlighted the unit’s ability to repurpose combat drones for unusual humanitarian missions.
