Ukraine reports at least 1,540 military deaths in 24 hours
Russia's defence ministry says that a minimum of 1,540 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the past day. The reported losses break down to 230 personnel in the Northern group, over 215 in the Western group, more than 145 in the Southern group, about 370 in the Central group, upwards of 515 in the Eastern group and around 65 in the Dnieper group.
A drone alert was issued in the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, but later cancelled. One person was killed in a drone attack in Elektrostal, and 37 people were injured in a separate drone strike in the Moscow region; debris fell on a kindergarten building but caused no casualties. An explosion was reported in Chernihiv, northern Ukraine.
Ukrainian soldiers were also killed in a vehicle crash while attempting to evade a Russian drone near Alekseevo‑Druzhkovka in the self‑proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic. The incident involved the 70th motor rifle division of the Southern group, resulting in three Ukrainian soldiers dead. Russian forces said their drone units continue to target enemy infantry, equipment, property and storage sites.
