Ukraine seeks $27 billion to prevent drone and missile shortages
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of a critical $27 billion funding gap required to sustain military operations, specifically for the procurement of drones and missiles.
Zelenskyy emphasized that if necessary orders and payments are not completed during October and November, Ukraine will face severe shortages in drone and missile reserves by early next year. He noted that approximately one-third of the required funds are needed specifically for drone purchases during the first three months of the year.
To address this deficit, the President has called on the European Commission to accelerate the release of the second installment of a $90 billion loan. He indicated that both the European Union and the International Monetary Fund recognize the necessity of supporting Kyiv to cover its fiscal deficit and defense requirements. Zelenskyy also noted that he has received a positive response from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding the matter.
