Ukraine-Russia war sees intensified port and oil‑facility attacks

On July 12 the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continued with heightened long‑range strikes. Ukrainian forces reported attacks on Russian oil‑refining complexes in Krasnodar, Taganrog, Tatarstan and the Leningrad region, as well as a power substation in occupied Luhansk, and claimed damage to dozens of vessels—including tankers, cargo ships and a ferry—in the Sea of Azov. Russian forces responded with attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure in the Odesa region, striking a converted fishing vessel used for unmanned‑system launches, a patrol boat in Chornomorsk, and other maritime targets; no fatalities were reported in these port strikes.

Simultaneously, officials discussed Ukraine’s request for Patriot interceptor production licences, possible revisions to U.S. sanctions on Russia, the upcoming EU‑Ukraine‑Moldova accession negotiations, World Bank assistance to Ukraine, and reports that Russian hackers accessed security cameras to track military shipments across the EU.
