Ukraine: Russian drones target civilians in Donetsk and Kherson

A video circulating on social media shows a Russian FPV drone attacking a cyclist in civilian clothing near Vasylivka Pustosh in the Donetsk region. While the Russian 3rd Army initially posted the footage claiming a strike against ‘enemy forces’, the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office confirmed the individual was a civilian who was injured rather than killed.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned such actions, describing the systematic use of drones to target civilians in areas like Kherson as a ‘Safari’. Residents in southern Ukraine report that Russian drone pilots frequently use FPV drones to hunt pedestrians. According to United Nations data, hundreds of passers-by have been killed and thousands injured in such incidents. Political scientist Joachim Krause noted that the footage demonstrates a ‘total barbarization of the Russian military’.
