Ukraine seeks UN intervention for humanitarian crisis in occupied Oleshky

Ukraine is calling on the international community at the United Nations General Assembly to pressure Russia to allow humanitarian aid into the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported that approximately 6,000 residents, including 200 children, are facing starvation and extreme cold due to a total blockade by Russian forces.

Sybiha stated that negotiations for civilian evacuations have been unsuccessful and that Russia has not responded to requests for aid access. Reports indicate that the population is suffering from a lack of food, medicine, electricity, gas, and drinking water.

The Kremlin has denied these allegations, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov claiming that Ukraine is responsible for obstructing humanitarian deliveries. While Moscow acknowledged critical supply shortages in the city, it maintained that the Russian military is working to resolve the issues.
