Romania imposes heavy‑truck traffic bans in three counties amid heatwave
Romanian police (Infotrafic) announced a temporary ban on trucks weighing more than 7.5 tonnes on national roads, expressways and highways in Arad, Bihor and Satu Mare counties from 12:00 to 20:00. The measure follows a red‑code heat alert issued by the National Meteorological Administration, with temperatures expected to reach up to 40 °C.
The ban excludes vehicles carrying passengers, live animals, perishable goods, fuel, emergency equipment, water, food supplies, military convoys and other essential services. Drivers are urged to check tyre pressure, air‑conditioning and coolant levels, avoid travel during peak heat hours, plan journeys for early morning or evening, and take regular rest and hydration breaks to reduce the risk of heat‑related fatigue and accidents.
