Ukraine shelling kills six, wounds 12 in Kyiv amid rising attacks

Russian strikes on Ukraine killed six people – four in Sumy and two in Odesa – and injured 12 in Kyiv, including two children, after a missile barrage hit the capital in the early morning. Local officials said the attack involved several explosions and damaged vehicles and buildings, while the Ukrainian foreign minister called the assaults a deliberate targeting of civilians.

In retaliation, Ukrainian forces hit targets in Russian‑controlled territories, killing nine people. Four deaths were reported in the Dnipropetrovsk region from drone‑borne explosives, two in Kryvyi Rih, and three in the Kherson area. The incidents occurred as both sides exchange fire following intensified aerial attacks across the front lines.

The violence adds to the growing civilian toll of the two‑year war and has prompted calls for increased air‑defence support for Kyiv and for stronger international pressure on Moscow to halt the invasion.
