Russian missiles hit Kyiv, Ukraine drones strike Russian warehouse

In the early hours of 19 July 2026, Russian forces launched a combined missile‑drone assault on Kyiv, firing 41 ballistic missiles and 125 drones. The attacks set fire to buildings in five districts, killed at least four civilians and injured more than 30, while also striking nearby Kharkiv and Sumy. Russian air defenses reported downing dozens of incoming drones, and the Russian defence ministry said the strikes targeted facilities linked to Ukraine’s armed forces.

Ukraine’s military said it had hit 159 Russian vessels in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov during July, including cargo ships and tankers, as part of a campaign to weaken Russia’s economy. The Ukrainian navy also reported striking a logistics centre in Kharkiv that left three dead and 20 wounded.

On 18 July, Ukrainian drones attacked a supermarket warehouse in Kotovsk, Russia, killing seven workers and wounding 24. Ukrainian officials cited the strike as retaliation for recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian towns.

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson warned that Ukraine’s armed forces could soon be unable to contain Russian offensives, noting that Russian troops are sustaining heavy casualties and that frontline survival for Russian soldiers has been estimated at 20–30 minutes. These assessments underscore the escalating intensity of the conflict.
