Crimea: Ukraine strikes Russian ammunition depots and missile systems

Ukraine has reported a series of successful strikes against Russian military targets on the Crimean Peninsula. Drone operations, involving the SBU and military intelligence (HUR), targeted a rocket and artillery ammunition depot near Dzhankoi. Satellite data from NASA's FIRMS system confirmed large-scale fires in the area following the use of Ukrainian-made long-range drones, such as the Zozulya.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Navy claimed to have struck a Russian Bastion coastal missile system, causing significant losses in equipment and personnel. The Bastion is a high-value mobile system capable of launching Onyx or Zircon missiles.

In response to shifting US political dynamics and potential changes in military aid, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed a desire to accelerate the development of a domestic missile defense system. He aims to see concrete results from the Freyja program, a European co-produced initiative, by the end of the year to reduce reliance on external suppliers.
