Ukraine targets Russian aerospace facility in Samara amid missile supply tensions
Ukraine has intensified its long-range aerial strikes against Russian industrial and military infrastructure. In a recent large-scale attack, Ukrainian forces targeted the Progress Center in Samara, a facility operating under the Russian space agency Roscosmos that produces rocket technology and electronics. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the strike utilized domestically manufactured Flamingo missiles to hit the facility, located approximately 900 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Russian officials in Samara reported that air defenses repelled a massive missile attack, resulting in localized damage to industrial sites and several injuries. This escalation follows a broader trend of Ukraine targeting energy plants and military industries to disrupt Russian war funding.
Simultaneously, tensions have risen regarding the supply of heavy weaponry to Kyiv. The Russian Foreign Ministry has demanded explanations from the United States and Turkey concerning the potential transfer of ATACMS tactical missiles and launchers to Ukraine. Moscow warned that such supplies would cause inevitable damage to bilateral relations with both Washington and Ankara, questioning the role of these nations as potential mediators in the conflict.
