Ukraine drone strikes ignite fires at Russian Wildberries warehouses, cause injuries and power outages

Ukrainian drones hit two major Wildberries logistics centres in the Russian cities of Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk on the night of 22 July, sparking large fires that burned for hours. Local authorities reported one death – a young woman in Krasnodar – and multiple injuries, including five people wounded in Nevinnomyssk and ten in Krasnodar. The attacks also set fire to a nearby oil depot in Armavir and caused damage to residential buildings and a truck park.

In the occupied Crimean peninsula, drones struck electric substations in the towns of Masandra, Yalta and Alushta, cutting power to large parts of the region. Ukrainian officials say the strikes target logistics hubs that supply the Russian military with drone components and other equipment.

Wildberries, often called “Russia’s Amazon”, is the country’s largest online retailer, processing around 20 million orders a day and employing millions. The fires could inflict losses exceeding $1 billion and raise concerns about supply disruptions for Russian consumers. Russian officials have downplayed the incidents, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted them as part of a broader campaign to weaken Moscow’s war effort.
