Ukraine tests new domestic weapon to intercept Russian drones

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the successful testing of a domestically developed weapon designed to intercept drones. During a recent night operation, the new technology successfully destroyed a Shahed-type drone.

Zelenskyy noted that while the test was successful, technical refinements are still required to further develop the defense system. He reported that 93 percent of Russian drones were intercepted during the night leading into Tuesday.

Despite these advancements in drone defense, the Ukrainian leadership emphasized that ballistic missiles remain a significant and ongoing threat. Russia continues to utilize Iranian-designed Shahed drones and its own mass-produced Geran-2 replicas for aerial attacks.
