Ukraine war enters strategic endurance phase amid leadership concerns

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has warned that Ukraine is slowly losing the war due to a lack of a comprehensive strategic vision, corruption, and slow implementation of new technologies. Fedorov noted that while technologies such as AI-controlled drones, inexpensive interceptor missiles, and ballistic missiles exist and could turn the tide, the country lacks a unified strategy to deploy them effectively. He characterized the current state of the Ukrainian government as operating at only “five percent efficiency.”

Political analyst Nikola Banićević describes the current conflict as a strategic struggle of endurance. He notes that the war has moved beyond territorial conquest to a contest of which side can maintain military, economic, and political capacities longer. While Russia maintains structural advantages in manpower, ammunition, and long-term production, Ukraine is attempting to offset weaknesses through drone warfare and strikes on Russian energy infrastructure to increase the economic costs of the war for Moscow.
