Ukraine and Russia exchange strikes as Zelenskyy seeks more aid
Russian airstrikes have caused fatalities and injuries across Ukraine, including two deaths in Zaporizhzhia and 14 injuries reported nationwide. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted strikes hit residential areas in Kyiv and several other regions, including Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv, and Vinnytsia.
In response, Ukraine conducted drone strikes against Russian targets, hitting an arms factory in the Rostov region and the Ilsky refinery in the Krasnodar region. Local authorities reported that the strike on the Krasnodar refinery resulted in three deaths and two injuries.
President Zelenskyy has called for increased sanctions from the US and EU, while also requesting an additional 27 billion dollars in defense funding to secure drones and missiles for the coming months. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin has threatened more severe strikes against Ukraine, citing recent Ukrainian drone activity in Moscow.
