On the night of 30 July 2026 Russia launched a massive long‑range attack on Ukraine, firing more than 70 missiles—including ballistic Iskander‑M rockets—and over 280 attack drones. The strikes hit Kyiv, the Dnipro region, the western city of Lavov and other areas, killing at least 13 people. President Zelensky had just returned from Washington, where he said U.S. President Donald Trump had agreed to grant Ukraine licences to produce Patriot interceptor missiles. In response to the Russian barrage, neighbouring Poland activated combat aircraft and early‑warning jets to protect its airspace after a Russian object—identified by Polish officials as a Kh‑101 cruise missile—crashed near the village of Tarnawa‑Kolonia, creating a 10‑metre crater. Prime Minister Donald Tusk convened a coordination meeting, and NATO was kept informed. Russian defence officials said the operation used precision weapons from land, air and sea, together with attack drones.
