Ukraine’s Anti‑Propaganda Playbook and Drone Escalation Shape NATO’s Ankara Agenda

Ukraine is presenting its methods for countering Russian disinformation as a model for Western democracies. The country’s ministries have deployed AI‑generated statements in dozens of languages, tools to dismantle false‑amplifying websites, and media‑literacy programs through the Diia app. NATO leaders at the July 7 Ankara summit are discussing “cognitive warfare” and plan to integrate such approaches alongside drone technology to strengthen alliance resilience.

At the same summit, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed U.S. claims that Ukrainian long‑range drone strikes could hasten peace, saying the escalation only deepens tensions. He linked NATO’s declaration labeling Russia a long‑term threat to Moscow’s decision to bolster its own capabilities. The allies pledged about €70 billion in equipment and training for Ukraine in 2026, a commitment Peskov framed as further provocation.
