Ukraine's Zelensky nominates Serhiy Korecki as new prime minister
President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Serhiy Korecki, head of the state oil company Ukrnafta, and offered him the position of prime minister. Korecki accepted the proposal. Zelensky had previously announced the resignation of Prime Minister Julia Swyrydenko, saying personnel changes were needed in the government and law‑enforcement structures. He indicated that the new cabinet would focus on preparing for a harsh winter, protecting energy and fuel infrastructure, stabilising the economy and effectively coordinating international support. The selection of Korecki reflects his successful management of Ukrnafta, which improved its financial results under his leadership.
