Ukrainian Church leaders address demographic crisis and global community

Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) has emphasized the need to view the Ukrainian people as a global, transnational community. Archbishop Shevchuk noted that many UGCC structures are currently located outside Ukraine and warned against the total assimilation of Ukrainians living abroad, suggesting that parishes and cultural organizations play a vital role in maintaining ties to the homeland.
