Ukraine drone strikes kill civilians in Russia as Russian air raid razes Kyiv's Pechersk Lavra
Ukrainian drones carried out night attacks on Russia's Tula region, killing three residents, including a one‑year‑old child, and injuring three others. Russian authorities said they intercepted 123 Ukrainian drones over 12 regions, including near Moscow, Crimea and the Black Sea.
At the same time, a massive Russian airstrike on Kyiv resulted in at least nine civilian deaths and 35 injuries. The assault set fire to the historic Pechersk Lavra monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, damaging the Cathedral of the Dormition and other structures. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack, with Macron calling it “completely unjustified.” The twin incidents highlight the escalating civilian toll and cultural destruction in the ongoing war.
