Ukrainian drones hit 19 Russian‑linked oil tankers amid Russian missile and drone barrage
In the latest phase of the Ukraine‑Russia war, Ukrainian drone forces attacked 19 oil tankers and a cargo vessel of Russia’s so‑called “ghost fleet” used to bypass sanctions, plus a ferry near Kerch and six power substations in occupied Crimea. Commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Aerial Systems, Robert Brovdi, said the strikes targeted about 50 energy facilities in July and 53 other military sites, causing prolonged electricity outages and fuel shortages on the peninsula.
At the same time, Russian forces launched five ballistic missiles, two anti‑radar missiles and roughly 170 drones during the night. Ukrainian air defenses shot down most of the incoming weapons, but five missiles and 20 drones hit Ukrainian territory. Ukrainian drones also struck the Krasnodarskaya gas‑compression station in southern Russia, a key node for the Blue Stream pipeline supplying gas to Turkey; Gazprom reported the attack aimed to disrupt gas flows but said supplies were restored promptly.
