Ukrainian logistics face potential threats to border infrastructure

Military experts suggest that Russian forces may target critical bottlenecks in Ukrainian logistics, specifically focusing on border crossings rather than just physical infrastructure like bridges or railways.

Unlike roads or tracks, which can be bypassed or temporarily repaired, border crossings involve complex systems including customs, border guards, and communication infrastructure. While closing a single crossing may not collapse the entire logistics network, systematic attacks could cause cumulative delays.

Routes through Moldova and Romania are particularly vital as they connect Ukraine to the European transport network for military supplies. If attacks on these border points become regular, the West may be forced to find alternative routes, leading to increased costs, longer transit times, and reduced predictability for the delivery of ammunition, equipment, and fuel.
