Ukrainian Magura Naval Drones Production Starts in United States

American defense contractor ReconCraft and Ukrainian UAV maker UFORCE have signed a memorandum of understanding to manufacture the Magura family of naval drones in the United States. The agreement, finalized at the Ukrainian embassy in Washington, calls for production facilities in Oregon and South Carolina, with the goal of delivering hundreds of units initially and scaling to thousands annually.

Joe Silkowski, co‑founder of ReconCraft, said the partnership will provide components, equipment and staff on both sides, enabling the United States to field the low‑cost, high‑speed Magura platforms that have seen combat use in the Black Sea. UFORCE CEO Oleh Rohînskîi described the move as essential for U.S. forces to adopt tactics developed during Ukraine’s war. Each Magura drone is about 7.6 m long, can carry over 770 kg, has a range exceeding 560 km, and costs under $500,000 per unit. The Pentagon plans to integrate these autonomous surface systems into its own operational concepts as part of a broader push for cheaper unmanned weapons.
