Ukrainian Drone Strikes Damage Russian Retail Giant Wildberries
Ukrainian long‑range drone attacks have hit Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, targeting at least eight of its warehouses across the Tambov, Krasnodar, Nevinnomyssk, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg regions since July 18. The strikes caused major fires, destroyed over a tenth of the company’s storage capacity and killed at least nine workers while injuring dozens more, including Central Asian migrant staff.
In response, Wildberries removed its “Everything for the SVO” war‑gear promotion page; searches for the Russian abbreviation “SVO” now return “no suitable products”. The retailer, whose annual turnover exceeds 4 trillion rubles (about $51 billion) and accounts for more than 10 % of domestic trade, estimates damage at 150‑230 billion rubles plus an additional 30‑35 billion rubles for cleanup and repairs.
