Uli Hoeneß warns against unrealistic expectations for Jürgen Klopp

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has expressed caution regarding the appointment of Jürgen Klopp as the new German national team coach. While Hoeneß described Klopp as a “very good trainer,” he warned against treating him as a “messiah” and emphasized that he must be given time to implement changes.

Hoeneß also raised concerns regarding the involvement of Klopp’s long-time advisor, Marc Kosicke, who has been integrated into the German Football Association (DFB) structure in a role involving strategy, development, and innovation. Hoeneß characterized the situation as a “friendly takeover,” questioning the appropriateness of Kosicke’s dual role as an advisor and a managing director with stakes in a player agency.

Former professional footballer Thorsten Legat offered a more optimistic view, stating that Klopp is “predestined” to lead the national team and possesses the authority and knowledge necessary to restore the team’s former success. Legat noted that Klopp’s presence brings a unique aura and authority compared to previous leadership.
