Ulsan advances offshore wind and energy logistics hub projects

Ulsan is advancing major energy infrastructure projects focused on offshore wind power and maritime logistics. During a recent public debate, proposals were made for Ulsan to lead the development of floating offshore wind power. Following the withdrawal of several international developers from previous projects, experts suggested that Ulsan could initiate a 500MW demonstration project with an initial investment of approximately 10 billion won. This model aims to generate local revenue through dividends and potential wind-based basic income for citizens.

Simultaneously, Ulsan City announced plans for the second phase of the Namshin Port energy hub project. This initiative involves a 1.078 trillion won investment to construct liquid cargo berths capable of handling 70,000 DWT. The project aims to transform Ulsan Port from a crude oil and petroleum center into a Northeast Asian energy logistics hub by incorporating future fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol. The city intends to seek national funding for infrastructure and explore long-term investment partnerships with global energy giants like Saudi Aramco.
