Umatilla National Forest fires report August 31

As of August 31, 2026, firefighting efforts continue in the Umatilla National Forest to manage the Hagen and Paradise fires.

The Hagen Fire has reached 45% containment and covers 60,975 acres. Firefighters have initiated tactical firing operations along the southern edges to bring the fire toward control lines. Personnel assigned to the Hagen Fire include 879 individuals.

The Paradise Fire covers 9,329 acres with 15% containment. Crews are currently focused on strengthening control lines and mopping up hotspots, particularly near the Mill Creek drainage and Forest Service Road 65. There are 506 personnel working on this fire.

Authorities have issued warnings for hunters and visitors to comply with forest closures and remain alert to equipment and personnel operating outside immediate fire areas. A warming and drying trend is expected to persist, with temperatures in the high 70s and low afternoon humidity.
