Umatilla National Forest fires see progress amid changing weather

Wildfires in the Umatilla National Forest, specifically the Hagen and Paradise fires, are seeing progress due to changing weather conditions. Recent rain and cooler temperatures have assisted suppression efforts, allowing firefighters to focus on mopping up hot spots and securing fire edges.

The Hagen Fire has burned approximately 61,408 acres and is 54% contained, with 785 personnel assigned to the effort. Crews are currently prioritizing suppression repair, patrolling the perimeter, and managing equipment back hauling.

The Paradise Fire has burned roughly 9,634 acres and is 22% contained, with 293 personnel on site. Efforts are currently focused on structure protection and scouting for containment opportunities, with particular attention being paid to the Mill Creek watershed for suppression repair work.
