Italian towns expand defibrillator network under regional cardioprotection initiatives

Umbertide completed its nine‑device defibrillator coverage on 14 July with the inauguration of a DAE in the Montecastelli frazione. The unit, donated by the College of Geometers of Perugia, follows a citizen‑training programme that qualified sixty residents to use the equipment. Local officials highlighted that the donation “is not charity but participation” and thanked the profession for its social‑responsibility project.

The mountain municipality of Ventasso approved, on 16 July, its adhesion to the Emilia‑Romagna regional “Project diffusion DAE”. Eleven new automatic external defibrillators, valued at about €22 000, will be provided free of charge by the Reggio Emilia USL and installed in sites lacking prior coverage, especially in tourist‑dense areas.

In the Ferrara area, the Ausl of Ferrara received a modern Cardiofax M ECG‑3350 electrocardiograph, donated during a ceremony at the Casa della Comunità of Portomaggiore‑Ostellato. Officials described the gift as “an extraordinary example of synergy between citizens, associations and health institutions” that strengthens territorial medicine and supports the local “Listen to Your Heart” cardiovascular‑prevention campaign.

These actions illustrate a broader push across several Italian municipalities to reinforce community cardioprotection through the deployment of life‑saving devices and diagnostic equipment.
