Umbria hosts sporting events for paracycling and charity

Various sporting events are being held in the Umbria region of Italy to support disability sports and local healthcare.

On September 27, Santa Maria degli Angeli will host the national handbike race memorializing Gino Fragola and Pierino Partenza. Organized by UC Petrignano, the event features paracycling categories including athletes with visual impairments, hearing impairments, amputations, and transplants. The race serves as a qualifying stage for the Coppa Italia and is expected to feature former professional cyclist Giambattista Baronchelli.

Additionally, a charity football match titled ‘Cuore in campo’ will take place on September 24 at the FIGC sports field in Prepo. The match, featuring actors and former Perugia football players, aims to raise funds for the Serafico Institute in Assisi. The proceeds will support the institute’s suspended therapy program, which provides rehabilitation services to low-income individuals. This event is part of a three-day festival focused on sport, health, and solidarity.
