Morelia officials advance Morebús project and digital connectivity programs

In Morelia, Michoacán, the Secretariat of Urban Development and Mobility (Sedum) is holding dialogues with residents of Tres Puentes, La Colina, and Nueva Valladolid regarding the Morebús project. Sedum head María Elena Huerta announced adjustments to the railway overpass project, emphasizing that no trees will be cut down. Instead, 27 plant specimens will be relocated to a conservation area within the Arboretum.

Separately, the Michoacán government is expanding digital connectivity through the ‘D4TA Datos Gratis’ program. Students and faculty at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) can register between September 7 and 20 at Ceconexpo to receive chips providing 4 GB of free internet, social media access, and unlimited calls. Additionally, approximately 8,000 new students at the Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Michoacán (Cecytem) will benefit from the program, aiming to reduce the digital divide in regions like Sierra-Costa and Tierra Caliente.
