Michoacán D4TA Datos Gratis connectivity program

Overview

The Michoacán government initiated the ‘D4TA Datos Gratis’ program for the 2026-2027 school cycle to address the digital divide. Mariana Sosa Olmeda, director of the Institute of Upper Secondary and Higher Education of the State of Michoacán (IEMSySEM), stated that SIM card distribution and activation are scheduled between September 7 and September 30. For staff and students at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH), a specific registration and validation process is being held at the Morelia Convention and Exhibition Center (Ceconexpo) from September 7 to September 20. To participate at Ceconexpo, high school and undergraduate students must present a copy of their CURP, a valid official ID, and current proof of enrollment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Faculty members are required to present a copy of their official ID, CURP, and a valid teaching credential. Recent updates indicate that approximately 8,000 new students at the Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Michoacán (Cecytem) will benefit from the program, which aims to reduce the digital divide in regions such as Sierra-Costa and Tierra Caliente. As of September 7, the registration and activation period for the UMSNH community at Ceconexpo is underway.
