Claudia Sheinbaum leads 2026 Military Educational System ceremonies

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presided over the 2026 closing and opening ceremonies of the Military Educational System in Zapopan, Jalisco. The event marked the graduation of 8,138 personnel and the commencement of studies for 5,200 new students.

During her address, Sheinbaum emphasized that the Armed Forces are rooted in a nation that has fought for its sovereignty and freedom. She called on military members to exercise authority with humility, prudence, and sensitivity, noting that the uniform represents service to the people rather than privilege.

Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla Trejo reported that approximately 3,000 of the graduates are specialists in officer training, with 1,000 joining the National Guard. Additionally, an administrative process has begun to rename the Army, Air Force, and National Guard University to the 'Universidad de la Defensa Nacional'.

The ceremony included an acrobatic exhibition by the 'Águilas Aztecas' squadron and participation from the Honor Guard and War Band of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH).
