Venezuelan Earthquake Relief: Miami Benefit Concert & Dudamel UN Campaign

Twin earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela on 24 June, killing roughly 5,000 people, injuring more than 16,700 and leaving about 18,000 homeless, primarily in Caracas and La Guaira. In response, a coalition of entertainment groups (CMN, Maestro Cares Foundation, TelevisaUnivision, PIMIENTO Entertainment) launched the “Unidos por Venezuela” initiative.

The initiative will stage a benefit concert and international telethon on 16 August at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The event will be streamed live across the United States, Latin America and digital platforms. Confirmed performers include Marc Anthony, Ricardo Montaner, Feid, Jay Wheeler, Elena Rose, Silvestre Dangond, Gente de Zona, Mau y Ricky, Olga Tañón, Lasso, San Luis, Piso 21, Alleh, Zhamira Zambrano and Enrique Santos, with more acts to be announced. Tickets go on sale 17 July via Ticketmaster. All proceeds will be managed by recognized international humanitarian organisations (UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, etc.) to fund food, medical care, shelter, reconstruction and longer‑term recovery.

Separately, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme. At a UN press event he said, “My heart remains with the people of Venezuela…music is a powerful element of healing.” The partnership will drive a global fundraising campaign and includes Dudamel’s historic appearance during the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show, where he will conduct both the New York Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony for the first time.

Both the concert and the UN campaign aim to mobilise international solidarity and resources to rebuild Venezuela after the disaster.
