UN appeals for $331.5 million to aid Lebanon amid Israel-Hezbollah conflict

The United Nations has launched a $331.5 million funding appeal to provide emergency assistance for about 1.4 million people affected by the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces in Lebanon. The violence, which intensified in late February 2026, has damaged infrastructure, constrained food, water and medical supplies, and heightened sectarian tensions across the country.

The broader regional fallout includes large‑scale displacement. In the West Bank, Israeli forces and settlers have driven roughly 40,000 residents from their homes, marking the largest forced‑displacement episode in the area in decades. United Nations officials warn that without swift funding, the humanitarian situation in both Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territories could deteriorate further.
