UN Climate Delegates Wrap Up Bonn Sessions Ahead of COP31

From 8 June to 18 June, the United Nations climate framework (SB64) held interim negotiations in Bonn, drawing several thousand delegates from governments, science, business and civil society. The talks focused on accelerating emission cuts, mobilising private investment, climate finance, adaptation measures and protecting forests as preparations for the next UN climate conference, COP31, which will be chaired jointly by Turkey and Australia.

The ten‑day Bonn conference concluded with about 6 500 participants. Turkish Environment Minister Murat Kurum proposed raising the share of electricity in final energy consumption from 20 % to 35 % by 2035 and announced that Turkey will host the next COP in Antalya in November. German Environment Secretary Jochen Flasbarth also attended as the senior German representative.
