UN experts allege U.S. war crimes in Iran strikes
Experts with the United Nations Human Rights Council have stated there are reasonable grounds to believe the United States committed war crimes during military operations in Iran. The allegations stem from strikes on February 28 that targeted a school in Minab and a sports center in Lamerd, resulting in the deaths of 178 civilians, including many children and teachers.
Investigators noted that fragments recovered at the scene indicated the use of a U.S. Tomahawk Land Attack Missile, a munition not possessed by Iran. The United States has not confirmed these allegations or released findings from a Pentagon investigation regarding the strikes.
Amidst the conflict, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has launched a military recruitment campaign titled the ‘Send Me’ tour. The campaign, which utilizes biblical themes to promote a ‘warrior ethos,’ comes as the Pentagon prepares to extend Middle East deployments into 2027. Reports have also surfaced regarding discrepancies in U.S. troop casualty counts during the war.
