UN report flags record child war‑crime violations, government forces named responsible

Vanessa Frazier, the UN Secretary‑General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, presented the agency’s annual report to the Security Council, warning that inaction is a “deliberate political choice”. The report documented 38,558 serious violations affecting more than 24,000 children – the highest numbers ever recorded.

For the first time the analysis shows state armed forces and their allies responsible for more violations than non‑state groups, naming the Israeli military alongside forces in Myanmar and the Russian Federation. Prior to the briefing, Israel’s UN ambassador Danny Danon accused Frazier of bias and antisemitism, citing old social‑media posts, but Frazier declined to engage personally, emphasizing the UN’s data‑driven mandate to protect children wherever they are.

The document is framed as “an indictment of inaction”, urging governments to fully apply international humanitarian law to safeguard minors in conflict zones.
