UN report says Israel committing genocide against Palestinian children

The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory released a report during the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council. It states that Israeli officials and security forces deliberately target children in the Gaza Strip, constituting genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, and notes similar war‑crime allegations in the West Bank.

Hamas spokesperson Hazim Kasım described the report as “important,” saying it documents Israel’s continued use of civilians as live shields and attacks on hospitals, schools and shelters. The report details severe physical and mental injuries, displacement, starvation, and the impact on newborns, and urges the end of Israel’s occupation and accountability for those responsible.
