UN Security Council warns Yemen of wider war and mandates flight approvals

The United Nations Security Council issued a statement warning that the escalating conflict in Yemen could slip into a wider war. It said that all flights to Sana’a and Hodeidah airports must be coordinated with and receive prior approval from Yemen’s internationally recognized government, condemning recent Iranian aircraft landings without such permission.

The council also condemned Houthi missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping, noting a recent wave of attacks in Marib province that killed dozens of government forces and civilians and spilled over the Saudi border. It called for adherence to international law, support for UN envoy Hans Grundberg’s political settlement efforts, and urged all parties to avoid actions that could undermine peace.
