Una-Sana Canton faces political crisis over contested government formation

A political dispute has emerged in the Una-Sana Canton (USK) following a contested vote to form a new government. Mustafa Ružnić, the outgoing leader, claims the assembly committed procedural errors regarding the dismissal and appointment of officials after the activation of a vital national interest mechanism.

Ružnić asserts that his administration currently holds technical mandate status and will refuse to hand over power until the Constitutional Court of the Federation makes a ruling. He contends that the new government, led by Ibrahim Dizdarić, is illegal due to these procedural violations. Ružnić maintains that while he recognizes the new majority of 16 deputies, legitimacy does not permit the bypassing of the Constitution and legal procedures.

Legal steps have been taken to challenge the constitutionality of the transition. Ružnić stated that the final decision regarding the legality of the new government will rest with the competent judicial institutions.
