The 2026 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), published by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, has highlighted the research performance of several institutions.

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) achieved the highest ranking for any Mexican institution in the list, notably securing 41st place globally in Veterinary Sciences. UNAM also demonstrated significant presence in other fields, including Ecology (51-75), Atmospheric Sciences (76-100), and Earth Sciences (101-150). Out of the 30 rankings held by the nine Mexican universities included in the report, UNAM accounts for 17.

In Spain, the University of Cantabria (UC) maintained its standing in five specific areas of knowledge: Marine/Oceanographic Engineering, Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Civil Engineering, and Mathematics. The university ranks among the top 100 globally in Marine/Oceanographic Engineering, while its rankings in Atmospheric Sciences and Civil Engineering fall within the 201-300 range, and Physics and Mathematics are in the 301-400 range.
