UNAM entrance exam cheating market offers real‑time answers and identity fraud
Investigations uncovered a clandestine market that used private WhatsApp and Telegram groups to sell answer banks, real‑time assistance and even identity‑theft services for the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) entrance exam. Packages were advertised for 200 to 4,000 Mexican pesos, with higher‑priced offers promising to take the exam on behalf of the applicant.
UNAM officials confirmed irregularities, blocked compromised exams and temporarily suspended registrations for the upcoming admission cycle while launching an inquiry. The scheme began weeks before the test, attracting prospective students through social‑media posts that promised free study material before shifting to paid services, some of which reportedly employed artificial‑intelligence tools to generate responses.
