UNAM files criminal complaint over alleged admission exam fraud

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) lodged a criminal complaint on 3 July with Mexican authorities, alleging illegal practices linked to the second day of its 2026 undergraduate admission exam. The university reported that 158,712 candidates took the online test, most without incident, but identified actions that violate the admission rules, including individuals and companies selling services that promise guaranteed admission.

UNAM warned families and prospective students not to pay for such services, urged them to rely solely on official channels, and said the complaint aims to investigate and sanction the responsible parties. Despite the incident, the university confirmed that the admission results will be released as scheduled on 17 July. In one report, more than 1,100 exam attempts were blocked after the irregularities were detected.
